The M20B25 Engine

The Engine is in very good condition despite the fact that it has runned 300k’s however the rubber intake hose is broken and taped with electrical tape to prevent it from sucking “false air”, so I need to replace this. There is some ticking, but nothing dangerous and i will adjust the valves together with engine service. Oil levels is good, but the oil is old and black, no driving before oil change. The spark plugs looked good with minimum carbon buildup. Airfilter is unknown, I want to use the original filter box, but they are really hard to get your hands on, but i will do my best to get my hands on one.
The exhaust is a problem, leaking like a old shoe, in a rainy day. I may just buy a new sport exhaust from Schmiedmann, but not before I have tried to stop the leaks, if it’s too bad I will replace it.

New Rocker Panels

The past week i have been looking for new rocker panels without any luck, but yesterday i found out that Koed.no actually has some unoriginal ones to 1000,- Nok about 130,- USD. So I ordered those. Atm. The panels are in transit. I also talk to one of the teachers on the “mechanic line” on my school if they could change them for me cheap and one of them are coming over to look at the IX the next week.

He will also weld the big hole that is left in the floor. after the welding is done, me and some friends are going to change the brake lines and bleed the clutch line.

Next —>

1. Install rest of the brake lines, caliper bracket left side, bleed the brake system and install the new fuel tank.

2. Weld the hole in the roof, weld the bad battery box, sand rest of the car

3. Painting.

1. Mount the interior.

2. Engine service.

3. Take her for a ride.

4. Make sure everything works properly.

5. The big EU Approval, too get the license plates back on

What needs to be done

The ix is suffering after standing still for almost eight years and this is the list on what needs to be done.

1) Some rust holes, all precut and ready for welding. (Check! Only the battery box left “fixed now”)

2) A bad axle on the passenger side, making noises. (Found out this was because of the lowering springs in the front, “No it was from a plastic shield around the drive axle”)

3) The paint is rubbish and needs to be redone. “Finished”

4) Some interior panels and gear knob is missing.

5) The entire stereo is gone, so i have to get a new one, the original is too expensive as they cost 1000$ new. So I will have to live with an aftermarket one. “Focal 6,5 in front doors with external tweeters that I am going to install “In the mirror cover on itch side, Focal 6×9 in the back and a Kenwood BT player i got laying around”.

6) The Norwegian EU approval, when the ix passes the test performed by mechanics it will become street legal.  If not complete I will get a list of stuff I will need to get in better condition for example: bushings or rust.

7) New rims 17″ 8.5 inches in front and 17″ 10 inches in the back. 215/35/17 and 255/30/17. “not sure yet”

8) Suspension, new H&R 50/50 Springs and Bilstein HD dampers. (The front left shock is dead) “not sure yet”

9) Engine tuning (Miller Chip and LMM conversion, Performance headers) “Found out the mille chip only work on Facelift engines…”

10) Service: Oil, oil filter, Fuel filter and spark plugs. (Done)

11) Brake Lines is dented, broken, rusted and worn. The front end looks good, but the lines running from the abs to the rear are in horrible condition, both the lines and the rubber houses are bad. (The longest line running from the front to the rear are replaced with new, and i have bought the others but have not have time to replace them yet.) “Somebody will do this for me because i have given up haha”
